FEAR, BLOOD AND CHAOS IN THE CLASSROOM!
Charged with fear, chaos and tragedy, WhipLash Theatre presents an energetic and destructive production of the classic story, Lord of the Flies. With haunting music and a dynamic adult cast, this production is an inventive retelling of Golding’s classic novel - the ultimate story of disorder and the beast within.
Last seen at the Subiaco Arts Centre in 2008 with Oh What a Lovely War!, WhipLash has captured audiences with their celebrated brand of theatrical experiences and dramatic storytelling. The company now return to transform the Subiaco Arts Centre’s Main Auditorium into the playground of William Golding’s imagination. Expect blood, sweat and electric performances.
A group of school boys, evacuated from a potential war situation, find themselves on a small tropical island after their plane is shot down. There are no adult survivors… With universal themes of power, disorder, bullying and identity this show explores the parallel world in which we live. Its grim lesson shows how close we are to the beast within.
From the creative team which brought you the hugely successful Oh What a Lovely War (2008) and Six Characters in Search of an Author (2007), Lord of the Flies is remains a powerful allegory for our times with its portrayal of the bestial nature of humanity. Starring Izaak Lim as Piggy and introducing Daniel Garrett as Ralph and featuring eleven of Perth’s finest young talent… don’t miss this reinvention of a classic story.
