The Perth Cabaret Collective have mounted another re-interpretation of their highly successful cabaret which knocked audiences out at The Ellington Jazz Club earlier in the year.

Featuring a mixed band of "ladies" all with one thing in common, loud, tuneful voices and  piles of "attitude." The soloists on show were the extraordinary Cougar Morrison, Mia Matheson, and Victoria Newton. The packed audence was out for a good time and were vociferous in their applause and complimentary vocal responses to the artists.

Gorgeous costumes were displyed to full effect as the cast worked their way through some memorable numbers made famous by ladies of showbiz. They were all there – Judy, Eartha, Edith, Liza and more.

The ten piece band was excellent, very live and very loud, but simply masterful under the musical directorship of Jess Herbert who conducted  from the front row while playing sax!

Matheson, respledent in a full length red sequined number lead off the proceedings with 'How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Love You When You Know I've Been A Liar All My Life?' The tone was set for a night of wonderful fun and superb music.

Cougar Morrison stunned in a voluminous alfoil-like cloak which she shed to reveal a tiny fringed red one piece. Her statuesque appearance underlined by a miraculous voice ranging from brusque gravel to silky smooth. Highlights were Newton's rendition of 'Love For Sale' and a superb duet version of 'L.O.V.E.' (the alphabet version) by Matheson and Newton. Morrison revelled in a couple of songs sung in French – a Piaf number and 'C'est Si Bon'. The contrast of the three singers was fun and the risque patter added to the atmosphere.

An audience member who was there to celebrate his 80th birthday and long time partnership with his wife was serenaded with 'You'd Be So Easy To Love'. 'Big Spender' pulled out all the stops. A personal favourite was the three-part vocal arrangement of 'Come On Get Happy' together with 'Happy Days Are Here Again'. Just gorgeous harmonies.

A very happy, satisfied audience rose to their feet wih pleasure.
