This outstanding show is the story of Dale Burridge’s musical theatre career. From his school boy days when his extraordinary voice was discovered to his leading roles in shows such as Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.
Extraordinary musicianship and vocal talent combined to create a terrific show, but beyond that they exuded real pleasure in working together as a superb musical team.
All eyes were upon him as he shimmied and slunk about centre stage. Then there is his extraordinary voice. His range is staggering, matched only by his expression and intonation. One minute crackling, the next falsetto.
Unfortunately due to the number of short plays, (12 in all) it is impossible to critique in detail each of the works.
Short+Sweet Perth is an open access competitive festival of 10 minute plays. It brings together a broad range of artists – professional performing artists working alongside talented enthusiasts, as well as artists with experience and expertise in other art forms trying their hand at theatre.
Jeff Green, dapper in black, opened the show in his usual chatty, rapid style, launching into hilarious anecdotes about COVID lockdown.
Not an entirely new concept but one so stylishly written and performed deserves praise and certainly a devoted following.
